Victoria Kiff — Metamorphose
victoria kiff metamorphose solo show 2018
"My paintings are figurative with a complexity of layers. The layers consist of drawn elements and oil paint which form a deep visual language. My preoccupation with the central figure or figures, is like that of a far distant landscape of memories, and transitional narratives.”
Victoria Kiff, October 2018
Introduction
‘‘The figures are sourced from a collective of found images or sometimes a person of interest, they are lucid, imaginary compositions that consist of marks made in the remains of a place — re-invented. I am a writer and a visual artist, so the paintings are a part of the writing and vice-versa.
Influences on my work include painters: Egon Schiele, Keith Vaughan. Sculptors: Elizabeth Frink, Auguste Rodin. Poets: Sylvia Plath, Johannes Bobrowski."
