Julia Albert Recht is a potter specialising in wheel-thrown and hand built unique earthenware functional and decorative items.

Her work typically features characters and animals which are playful, often evoking images from folklore.

Julia spent most of her career working in humanitarian aid, mainly in Africa. More recently, since moving to a small town near Edinburgh, she has set up a small studio where she loves working on her pottery.

‘I love making highly decorated pieces and see the clay as a surface to do that.’
