Jane Campling
Jane campling
Jane’s paintings are inspired by forms in nature and characterised by distinct colour palettes and fluent, bold, expressive lines. Images are developed through a process of direct observation, capturing colours, rhythms and structures in the landscape.
The sketches become the basis for developed, abstracted images in the studio which are a visual approximation of a time and place. Dark blues, greens and grey hues contrast with tints of red, orange and yellow; darkness contrasts with light, shade with luminosity. Colours and marks reveal themselves, layer over layer, in the progressive development of the emerging image.
